Donating to a campaign
Payment methods, tips, fee cover, and dedications when you give.
Donating takes less than a minute, with or without an account.
Give as yourself or as your organisation
If you hold a seat in an NGO or a company, the donation form offers a "giving as" choice. Pick the organisation and the supporter wall shows its name, logo and verified badge instead of yours, linking to its page. Your own name stays on the record, so the campaign can still reach the person who gave. Most people never see this control, because it only appears if you hold a seat.
How to donate
- Open a campaign on ardent.africa.
- Choose an amount.
- Pick a payment method.
- Optionally add a tip or a dedication.
- Complete payment and you are done.
Payment methods
Ardent Africa supports the major ways people pay in the region:
- Cards through Paystack.
- Mobile money through Hubtel and Paystack, including the popular Ghana networks.
You will be guided to a secure checkout. Ardent Africa never stores your card details.
Tips, fee cover, and dedications
- Tip: an optional amount that supports the platform. Tips are kept separate from the campaign total, so a campaign's progress reflects money raised for the cause itself.
- Fee cover: when a campaign carries a platform fee, you can choose to cover it so the campaign receives the full amount you intended. Donations to Ardent Africa Foundation causes are zero-fee, so there is nothing to cover.
- Dedication: dedicate your gift in honour or memory of someone, with an optional message. Tick the box to allow it to be shown and it appears with your gift on the campaign's supporter wall; leave it unticked and it stays between you, us and anyone you asked us to notify. An anonymous gift never reaches the wall at all, so a dedication on one is never shown.
- A message for the encouragement wall: a line to the people running the campaign and everyone else reading it. It appears beside your gift on the campaign page.
The tip is only offered where there is a platform fee
Ardent Africa Foundation causes are zero-fee, so the whole gift reaches them and there is nothing to tip beside or fees to cover. Neither is offered there.
After you donate
You get a proper receipt rather than a flash of green: what you gave, any tip or fees you covered, the total you paid, that an email is on its way, and a way to tell somebody about the campaign. The same screen on the phone and on the web.
If you donated while signed in, the campaign appears in your activity. Campaign owners post updates as the cause progresses.
Where your money goes
Donations to Ardent Africa Foundation causes carry no platform fee, so the full amount reaches the cause. When public fundraising opens for standard campaigns, a small platform and processing fee will apply to those. See how funds work.
